Import from FileMaker 8.5 into Excel 2008 - Object not found

I am importing data from File Maker Pro 8.5 to an Excel 2008 (12.1.0)
workbook. I go through the steps to select an fp7 file, specify the
table (or layout), fields and criteria and the location in Excel to
import to. I then get a message from Excel "FileMaker error: Object
not found".

Are there version errors that occur with various version cocktails of
Excel and FileMaker? I did hold out hope that 2008 would be compatible
with this relatively recent version of Filemaker.

Thanks
Ian

Hi Ian,

One question for you, do you get this error for newly created files on
Filemaker 8.5 or are they files that were created on previous Filemaker
versions and then converted using version 8.5?

Thanks!

Thanks for the response Fergal,

I'm pretty sure my file was created in FileMaker 8.5, but I tested
with a newly created file and was successfully able to import records.
I also did a text export of the real database into a new FileMaker
database. I was successfully able to import all records from that
database into Excel.

So far so good - but when I specified criteria on the query in the
FileMaker import dialog in Excel all records were still imported.
Strangely the "Next" button in the dialog remained greyed out even
after I had specified a query criterion and I went straight to the
Finish button - I don't know if that has any bearing on why things
weren't working.
