I need help!
On 3 PCs, with Access 2003 I've the same problem..

importing from an odbc sorce, I obtain this error: "Invalid Argument.."
If I open a DB with some linked tables and I go in the "linked tables
manager" to reconnect them I don't see nothing!! I've a blank box!

I've just upgraded all with lastest patch (jet too)... but I don't know
other solution :(
on 2 of the 3 PCs i've Access 97 too, and it work properly...

some ideas????

thanks!

I got the same error when I was trying to import some
tables using odbc. I later found out that it was because
one or more of those tables would increase the size of my
access db beyond the 2.0Gb limit.

Size IS everything.

In all my test the DB is less then 10 Mb !!! :-((( Size isn't the problem...

.
How about the size of your current DB plus the size of the
table you are importing? Is the source table in use (being
actively updated) while you are trying to import it?

I also got an error when importing a 290Mb table into a DB
which should have had enough room for it. I got around the
problem by creating a link to the external table and then
a MakeTable query to duplicate it within the DB. I'm
thinking that the error was caused by the table being in
constant use by the source dbms.

My external tables are very small (max 100records)....
If I link the tables instead of import them I obtain the same error.....

I think that the problem should be some DLL o something similar that isn't
in the correct version....
But I remember that this problem is on 3 Pcs!!!!

:-(((((( Mistery

Have you tried the /tools / database utilities / compact
and repair ?? Perhaps there is something in your current
database that is causing the problem.

Identifying an "Invalid Arguement" error is like finding a
needle in a haystack. One possiblity is to create a new db
and copy everything that you need over to it. Then erase
the old one.

I'm a newbie at access myself, but I've found
that 'Invalid Arguement' errors pop up when you exceed the
max size of access, or when you try to import an active
table from another db. I'm sure there are other reasons.
Once I got the message, the only thing I could do was
trash the db and start over.

Perhaps someone else here might have an opinion.

Try re-entering your post on the "importing, exporting &
linking" or "setup & configuration" boards.

Nothing...
If I create a NEW db and go to the File/import... odbc ecc.... I obtain the
same error on all PCs....
Now I try to post as you suggest in the other NG...

Thanks! ;-)
