Import Outlook 2007 Calendar into Visio 2003

I have a user that recently upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007. They
are trying to import their Outlook 2007 calendar into Visio 2003 and do not
have the “import outlook data wizard†under calendar, they only have the
configuration option. I have uninstalled Visio 2003 and reinstalled it as
another post suggested but still have the same issue. I made sure Visio and
Office 2007 were fully patched as of 9/24/2009 and still have the issue. I
setup a new machine with Office 2007, then installed Visio 2003, and get the
same results on that machine; no “import outlook data wizard†is available.
An upgrade to Vision 2007 is not an option for this user, because of budget
constraints. Is there a setting or something missing in outlook or Visio that
we are not seeing? Any help appreciated.

It sounds like "can't see the forest because of the trees". Software
developers do not know what the future software will bring, so they can't
ensure they will integrate with some not yet developed software. To cover
themselves they may test for known versions and ignore the unknown (and not
support it). In your scenario o2007 was not known when v2003 was
developed...

So what you are saying is that this is never going to work and that Microsoft
is going to force everyone to upgrade all of the office applications to 2007
if you want the ability to use the features? And that they made some things
backwards compatible but not others?
If so then I am wondering how it worked for this post?:

I don't get to speak for anyone but myself... I'm not a MS employee, I'm
just a user.

IMHO you're not asking for a Visio feature to be backward compatible, you're
asking for a v2003 feature to be forward compatible. If your issue is that
Outlook 2007 is not providing the data correctly (backward compatiblility),
possibly you might open a formal ticket with MS or raise it on the Outlook
forums to see if somebody has found a resolution there.
sorry,

ps some of this stuff was done with add-ins that were released after the
products, so you might check around
