Import pst from previous installation

Hoping someone can help - I have rebuilt my Outlook 2003
PC - when I try to import the previous PST file back in, I
get the folowing error message:

"The file outlook.pst is not compatible with this version
of the Personal Folders information service. Contact your
administrator."

The pst was definitely originally created and exclusively
used by Outlook 2003.
