Import Specs

I have an existing import spec, and I am trying to add fields to it. Once
the field is added I choose Save, and the new fields are removed. I can
change existing fields, but am unable to add anything. This is incredibly
frustrating. Does anyone know what is wrong?

Have you installed the current service packs and updates for your
version of Office?

Of course not. I work in an office where anything so drastic as a service
pack takes several days to approve. Fortunately, I found that I can just
copy the original spec, add the new lines in Excel, and paste the result into
a NEW spec. This way I can be productive while waiting for an upgrade.
