Import Spreadsheet Wizard problem

N

Norman

I have a problem when using the Import Spreadsheet Wizard
to import data from an Excel worksheet into Access.

- Open database in Access. Select File, Get External
Data, Import
- Browse for file, type Microsoft Excel. Import.
- Import Spreadsheet Wizard starts. Select worksheet.
Next.
- Tick First Row Contains Column Headings. Next.
- Select In a New Table. Next.
- PROBLEM: Can only alter the first column.

I can select the other columns, but nothing happens in the
box above. Basically, I don't want to import selected
columns, but it won't work!

I'm running Office XP and Windows 2000.

Hi, Norman.

Unless you have Service Pack 3 installed for Office XP, you can convert this
*.XLS to a *.CSV file from within Excel, then import it into Access with the
Import Text Wizard and change the other column headers and data types.

If you've already installed SP-3, then you'll need the hot fix to correct
the bug in the Import Text Wizard to allow you to change column headers. If
that's the case, then please see the following Web page:
