Import Text Files Via TransferText macro

Is there a reason and a workaround for the TransferText macro importing a tab
delimited text file into one field instead of spreading it out across all of
the fields in the table? Manually importing this file by using the "get
external data" wizard works just fine. Any ideas?

Did you try to create an import specification and mention it in the
TransferText command?
