Import timeline

Is some way to take dates entered into a database or spreadsheet or flat
file and import them into Visio to create a timeline?

Just found this in a note about Visio. Anybody know how to do it?

Enhanced project scheduling: Import dates and tasks from Microsoft Project
files into Gantt charts and timelines. Export information in a Visio
timeline to create a Gantt chart, and vice versa. The Timeline solution is
faster and has enhanced milestone behaviour

In Visio 2003 you can generate a Timeline from MS Project, and you can
generate a Gantt chart from MS Project and MS Excel (plus a few more
sources).

In Visio, I don't see how to open up an .MPP file. ??????

Start a new Timeline or Gantt chart drawing and then go to their solution
menu (next to Tools) to perform the import.

If you create a new Gantt chart by opening the Gantt chart template, cancel
the main dialog that comes up, then go to the "Gantt chart" menu and choose
Import. If you have Project on your machine, it will be one of the file
types that you can import from.
