Imported Datasource seems to be caching - need to pull latest data

In Excel I imported data from the Oracle db specifically Toad. This datasource gets updated on a daily basis and I need to pull in the latest data each day in Excel. Unfortunately as I refresh the data I noticed that it's still showing the old data. So I deleted the database connection and reestablished a new one in a new Excel spreadsheet and still I get the same results. More interestingly, at times when I try to edit the query via EDIT QUERY the system would not show the database connection created. Makes you wonder where it's pulling the data from and how we can clear out that data?

This is well documented issue and has to do with browser caching. You have 2 options - (a) somehow change the name of the "temp" excel file every time you refresh the page or read up on HTMl header communication - and try the permutations that work for you - there is one combination for each version of frontpage and IE. I do not use netscape - so you are out of luck.

The file is cached in your temproary internet files - and has a lot to do with how the page expires, how you manage sessins, etc.

You will have to have enormous patience to understand the "geek structure" of the w3c english and specs.
