Imported projects to Project Server 2003

When we import projects into Project Server 2003 we do not have the
ability to log actual hours during specific days, the best we can do is
edit the percent complete, we do not even have the option to enter
actual hours. With newly created projects the actual hours during
specific days is available. Further if we create a new task within an
import project we can change the acutal hours for the entire task but
not on specific days. This is all done with PWA, TASK, Timesheet view.

Based on the behavior your describe, it sounds like your Project Server
administrator did not lock down the default method of tracking for your
environment. Because of this, the % Work Complete method of tracking is
being selected for each of your imported projects. You have two options to
set all projects to the same method of tracking:

1. You can lock down the default method of tracking by having your Project
Server administrator log into PWA with administrator permissions, and then
clicking Admin - Customize Project Web Access. Your PS administrator should
select the "Hours of work done per day or per week" method of tracking and
select the "Force project managers to use..." option. He/she should then
click the Save Changes button. After doing so, you will need to open each
of the imported projects, click Collaborate - Publish - Republish
Assignments, and then click OK. Doing so will republish each of the
assignments in the imported project.

or

2. If you do not wish to lock the default method of tracking for your
organization, then you will need to open each of the imported projects and
click Tools - Customize - Published Fields. In the dialog, select the
"Hours of work done per time period" method of tracking for the project and
click OK. You will need to republish the project's assignments by clicking
Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments, and then clicking OK.

I would personally recommend the process in #1 above, but it's entirely up
to you. Hope this helps.
