Importin csv file in Access 2007

I am having trouble importing a csv file in 2007. If I go througt the usual
import procedure, extermnal -text -make new table etc, it only works if I do
not specify that the first row contains column heads. If I do so specify,
the program either shuts down or gives me some message about trying to fix
the problem then shuts down. Help appreciated, I am about ready to put 2007
in the dumpster.

Very strange. Go to the Office Button, then click on the Access Options
button towards the bottom. The Access Options window should open up. Go to
Resources towards the bottom of the left column. It should say the complete
version of Access (something like 12.0.6211.1000) and which Service Pack. You
should be up to SP2.

If not in the same window you can get updates.

Also in the same window is a button for run Microsoft Office Diagnostics. It
might find and fix something wrong with your install of Access.

Thank you Jerry for quick response. I do have Svc pak 2 and ran the
diagnostics. No results. The number at bottom screen is 2007(12.0.6423.1000
SP2 MSO(12.0.6435.1000), which seems what you expected. I suppose my only
recourse is to uninstall and reinstall?

Hi Gina and thanks for response. I have service pak 2 and ran diagnostics,
(see reply to Wittle above)-Are there other patches that I need? The column
heads are nothing special, most are replicas of field names in an existing
table and the import procedure worked well in my Access 2000 program I sent
the csv file to a friend with Ac2007 and worked fine there. I will get cd
back from office and reinstall, unless you can tell me some thing else to
try. Is it possible that my runtime installation is interfering?
