Importing Appleworks 6.2.4 spreadsheets into Excel

They seem to come over as text files--no formulas or column/row
headers, but in a grid. Saving Awks files in Excel formats dont work,
nor does adding .xls to the unopened file's name. Is there a way to
import them as worksheets?

Could you mention which version (incl. updates) of Excel
you are using? And a step by step description of the way
things come could be helpful too...

A sheet saved in Excel format should open as a workbook.
Well it does in my case. There are sometimes problems with
formatting or certain formulas, but it never came up as
text files as far as I can remember.
