Importing Certificates from Thunderbird

Sometimes I need to use Outlook to access an email account, and during
the process of setting it up I tried to Backup my certificates from
Thunderbird, and then import them into Outlook. Outlook always responds
with the following error message:
"An error occurred while trying to import security information"

I don't have the copy of my original cert, all I have is the installed
versions.

Is there a way to do this?

Thunderbird or Firefox? I can export (backup) certificates from Firefox,
import them into IE and then Outlook will see them.
