importing .dat file

Is it possible to import a .dat file straight into
Access. I currently open it with Excel and then import
which works fine but it would be more efficient to go
straight into Access

It is, but not directly, as Access doesn't recognize the .dat extension as
valid.

Either rename the file to an acceptable extension (such as .txt), or check
the following KB article:
