Importing Data into .MPP files

P

Peter Yovich

Hello All,

I have been handed the task to upload weekly hours worked on a project from
out Time Keeper system into MS Project. Unfortunately due to someone
wanting to keep costs down, the Project Data is _NOT_ being stored in SQL
Server...rather they are in Network Shared .mpp files.

I have looked through the supporting documentation that comes with Project
(projdb.html et al) and everything in there seems to apply to the SQL Server
implementation.

Is it possible to import data into the .mpp files and if so, then how?

Thanks in Advance.

Hi,

Going from your time sheet system to Project .mpp files will only work
reliably if your time sheet system stores Task and Resource Unique ID's. If
thy don't, then changing the name of any task or resource will make it very
hard to match tasks with time in your system to tasks in Project. Note that
the unique ID is NOT the ID column displayed in Project's Gantt Chart.
