I have an Access report which reads tables from an Excel 97-2003
spreadsheet.
Having just upgraded to Office 2007 I'm in the process of converting
most of our most frequently used spreadsheets to the new Excel 2007
format, to save disk space if for no other reason.
I imagine I won't have much problem converting my Access report such
that it reads the new .xlsm format spreadsheet instead of the .xls
one, but there is one onion in the ointment and that is that there is
at least one user who has retained Office Access XP even though
updating Excel etc (he has one of the lesser editions of Office 07
which doesn't include Access) and I'm not sure how to make this
backward compatible while using the new Excel 07 spreadsheet.
The user has downloaded the Office 07 compatibility pack, but I'm not
sure if that is enough. Is it possible for a user with a
compatibility patched version of Access XP to read tables from an
Excel 2007 spreadsheet, and if so.. how?
