Importing excel data

I have a database that tracks information about different sites. t I want to
import a spreadsheet that has specific information about sites in my database
so I don't have to retype everything. When I go to import I follow the
instructions to import the info to a new table. At the end I get the
following dialog box "An arror has occured trying to import file (name of
file) The file was not imported"

Could anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. I am using access 2003
