Hi Dwight,

If you are delivering e-mail into a .PST file and moving from machine to
machine, this is the data you need. However, remember to exit out of
Outlook before you copy your .PST file to whatever media you will be using
to access it on the new system - the file is locked while in use. Another
tip, if you burn it to CD and then copy it from CD to hard disk, the file
may be marked as Read-Only. You can remove the Read-Only attribute by
modifying the Properties of the .PST file once you copy it down. I do not
recommend connecting to a PST file on a network share for use, import or
export - make sure the file is local.

Here is an article that will help:

Since Outlook 2003 is the only version of Outlook more recent than Outlook
2002, the answer is "it depends". If the OL 2003 PST is a Unicode-format
PST, the answer is "no". If it is an ANSI-format PST, the answer is "yes".
However, always avoid importing PSTs in all cases. Use File>Open>Outlook
Data File to open a PST and them copy or move items from the newly-opened
PST to the current one.
