Importing messages from Outlook Express 6

I'm in the middle of importing messages from Outlook Express 6 (on one
computer) to Outlook (on another, new computer). I've successfully
transferred the Outlook Express files from the old computer to the new
computer, but now, according to the directions under Outlook on importing
messages I'm supposed to open Outlook Express.

My question is: am I supposed to install the Outlook Express program? How
can I open Outlook Express on the new computer when it's not installed on
there?

OE is part of Internet Explorer and is installed by default. ie in IE
Tools>Mail & News

You need to have these files avilable in OE on the new PC before you can
export the msgs to OL
See http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/ for info on OE
I'm assuming its not a Vista sys, which has 'windows mail'

Thanks DL, but actually my new computer does have the Vista OpSys installed
on it....sorry I should have put that in the post. Does this make a
difference since it's vista?

Vista uses Windows Mail - the new outlook express -
I dont use Vista - too early in its lifecycle :) - You would have to connect
your old OE files to Windows Mail, then I assume there will be an option to
Export to OL
Perhaps if the Help files dont assist in the connection of the OE files you
should post to a Vista group
