Ok so lets start agian -
I have installed FP98 on a new computer I had done this
resently on another computer at my home and there was no
problems Both are Windows XP.
I know I must be missing something in my procedure. I
have read all the help instructions. I can seem to iron
it out.
I would like to import my website from the net to
transfer the info from old computer to this new one. My
old one does not have the ability to attach a crossover
cable.
I will go to file - create new web via the import wizard
it will not let me - You suggested this is not a good
idea.
So how about manually trasferring the files by copying
froem the old computer by floppy.
But the program will not even detect the a: as a
destenation it keeps giving me a time out error message.
Or can not find sever.
I have tried reinstalling the program with a restart
after the uninstall.
I am getting so flustrated I have been working on this
the better part of a week. please help.

1. Get a copy of WinZip and then zip the folder that is containing your web, then unzip the folder
on your new system, then open the folder in Windows Explorer and delete all of the _vti folders.
Then open the folder in FPExplorer by entering the path.

or

Open the remote site directly in FPExplorer on the remote server, if the remote server has the FP
extensions, and then publish to a folder on your HD, then open the folder in FPExplorer.

or

Open the remote site in a FTP application and then download the content to folder on your HD, then
open the folder in FPExplorer.

2. Windows XP Home doesn't support any MS web server or FP extensions, so you will have work with a
disk-based web, which is really not recommended, since FP98 was designed to work with Server-based
webs, but it is doable.
