Importing Project with Existing Actuals

Please can someone let me know how I can import an exisiting project plan that has some tasks completed or part completed into the Enterprise. When importing the plan I get a dialog that says

"The actual work in 'project_name.published' may be out of sync with the actual work updated from timesheets. Do you want to sync with protected actuals when you save this project?

If I select yes during import then all of the existing Actuals are removed, which is not what I want. If I select No then the dialog keeps firing!

If this is the only way to do this how does it work if some tasks are complete and others aren't - and for the ones that aren't I would want the resource to use the timesheets in Web Access to record their Actuals

Would I need to select 'No' to the dialog and then publish all information in the plan? Obviously I cannot expect the resources of the projects we are importing to go and update timesheets for tasks they have already completed.

I am sure I have seen a better way to do this so can someone please remind me

Thank

Ji

You will need to ask your Project Server administrator to temporarily
disable Managed Time Periods in PWA before attempting to import projects
with existing actuals. Once the project has been imported, click
Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments, select the "Overwrite actual
work entered by resources" option in the dialog, and then click OK. Doing
so will "push" the completed work to each user's timesheet. After you have
done so, the administrator can enable Managed Time Periods again. Hope this
helps.

Jim:

Turn off Managed Time periods, import the project, Use Collaborate >
Republish Assignments selecting to overwrite actuals in the timesheets, turn
Managed Time periods back on.
