Importing to Enterprise causes local calendar customizations to be lost

A project that contained customizations to the standard calendar was
imported to Project 2002 Server, which is set to allows local base
calendars.

The project contained changes to the 'standard' calendar, for example
Christmas to new years was booked off.

When the project was opened from MS Project 2002 Server the calendar
changes were in effect, however there was no way to view or modify
those custom changes. The 'Standard' calendar after the import does
not show the custom changes.

I would have expected a definite conflict between the calendars as the
global calendar is called 'Standard' and the modified local calendar
is called 'Standard' as well.

Any insight to this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Graham

Because of the way that the enterprise environment is set up to work in
Microsoft Project 2002 and Project Server, any enterprise objects such as
Calendars, Views, Tables, Filters, Groups, and the like will overwrite any
same-named objects in your project plan. Since the Standard calendar is an
enterprise calendar, it will overwrite the local calendar named Standard in
your project.

The solution would be to rename the Standard calendar in your project to
something else, such as "New Standard". Before you import the project, you
will need to make sure that your "New Standard" calendar is set as your
project calendar (Project - Project Information, then select the Calendar)
and the non-working time calendar (Format - Timescale - Non-working Time
tab, then select the Calendar). Hope this helps.
