Importing

Using FP2002, what a mess it has made of my site. I changed servers, before
I did I saved the entire site to my hard drive.

I went into FP and did a 'import' from the web. That worked fine, a little
slow but ok until I opened the files, everything was duplicated, the entire
site. Every page. I'm in the process of redoing it.

Any reason why this happened? and for future should I NOT use import? Is
there an easier way to get this site up and running just like it was on the
other server?

Thanks for any help and suggestions

I apologize for sending this to your personal email, I clicked the wrong
button.

I wish I had known that before I imported, now my site is so messed up its
going to take me days to redo it. Why do they even have an import feature
if it doesn't work? Everything on the site is in triplicate, when I try to
delete some of it, nothing shows up. Thanks if you have any suggestions to
make my job easier.

Does the live/remote server have the FP extensions? If so, delete you local copy, then open the
live/remote site directly in FP via File Menu | Open Web / Site then select File Menu | Publish Web
/ Site back to c:\webname

If the live/remote server doesn't have the FP extensions, you will need to download the entire site
using a FTP application to a folder on your HD, then open the folder in FP via File Menu | Open Web
/ Site and allow FP to make it a web / site. Then if the site uses themes, shared borders, FP
navigation components, you have to re-apply or re-build these items.
