Julie: Thanks. I would like to import a project plan that a PM has created
into a template project plan in MS Project 2007. Then I suppose after it is
imported it would need to be massaged, updated etc.

Template. I am attempting to standardize the project plans as much as
possible. Until I can get the PMs to start out their project plans using the
templates, I need to import their project plans into my templated. Can you
help ?

Hi Lily,
I guess I'm still not following -- what is in your template that the Project
Manager's are omitting? Would you not be better off just modifying their
project plan with the additional information/details you need?
You can *insert* a project into an existing project that is based upon your
template through Insert > Project. When you insert a project, it copies all
data from the inserted project into the existing project and, by default,
maintains a link to the original project file. If the original project file
is modified, you will see your project file update.
If you have custom views, tables, fields etc, you can copy the defintions of
the customization from your template into the Project Manager's project
through Tools > Organizer. Open a project based upon your template and then
open the PM's project file. You can copy the definitions as needed.

Thanks Julie: I guess I was thinking that the template was somehow different
from a regular project. As long as I can import the PMs project plans into
the template, things will be great. My manager asked me to be sure of this,
that is why I am asking the question. Thanks again
