Hello...
Here is my little problem.
I want to prepare a new standard installation for my company. For this I
want to deploy Office XP through a GPO to all my computers. I wanted to test
it in my lab (outside production) to validate the procedure, but it didn't
work.
What I did for now:
1) create a network share called office accessible to everyone on a file
server.
2) Make an administrative install of office to this network share.
3) created an MST answer file (with the Custom Installation Wizard in the MS
ORK) and saved it to the office share
4) created a GPO which points on the PRO.msi and uses the created MST in the
modifications tab (it's for the computer part... not user)
5) modified the GPO to enable the loopback to every user (It's in french I
don't know the traduction in English)
6) Created a test OU and linked the GPO to this OU
7) Moved a computer account to this OU
8) restarted the computer
Nothing happened (absolutly nothing... not even an error message or log). I
tested another MSI that I created (I simply added to the existing GPO) and it
installed without any problem... I really don't know what I did wrong.
For testing purprose I also added the office installation to the user part
of the OU and moved one test user in it. When I restarted the client PC and
loged in as this user nothing happened too.
When I try to install office from the client PC with the command:
setup.exe TRANSFORMS=\\server\office\DEPLOY.MST /qb-
it works perfectly (I think that means that my installation files and MST
file are correct)
The system I use is:
DC : Win2000 server french SP4
File server : Win2000 server french SP4
Client PC : Win 2000 Pro SP4
Office XP Enterprise French
If someone has a good idea... Feel free to tell me (It's now 2 days I
struggle with that :-( )
Thank you for your help.
