I've been working on a family tree, and need to put a frame around a quote, I
know how to get into the frames and borders but cant find anything "Old
Style" to suit. Is there anywhere else I can look or am I at the end????

And I have the complete opposite problem: How do i get rid of a frame border
? I've looked at Word help and I've searched previous posts and can find
nothing on this.

The Border Styles listed in the Format Frame dialog are all that's available
for a Frame, itself. However, you can apply a paragraph border to the text
in the frame and in the Borders & Shading dialog click the Horizontal Line
button at the bottom. You may find something there to suit you. Otherwise,
it's best to create the content in a graphics program and insert it into
your doc.

Right-Click the edge of the frame - not *inside* the frame - choose Borders
& Shading, then click the Preset labeled None.

Cybertaz: Yes, this is what I've done which is why I can't understand why I'm
showing a border.
Just to clarify, the border I see is definitely around the frame and not the
picture object within the frame!
On the borders dialogue you mention, I have setting: NONE, but style is
showing a solid line, colour is automatic and the width is ½point.
I wouldn't have asked for help on this otherwise.

Further to my last post, I've right clicked on Frame, Borders/Shading and
selected 'Box' and it's given me a box around the picture object within the
frame (giving me two boxes, one inside the other). I've also tried right
clicking within the picture object within the frame and selected a box and it
puts it in exactly the same place and here's the puzzler: If I right click on
the frame and select 'box', I can then right click within the picture object
and turn the box off! So it looks as if borders/Frames option for the Frame
are confused with what's inside the frame.

And even further to my last post. I have SOLVED the problem (Hurrah!). What I
had to do was click inside the Frame and delete the picture object. THEN i
was able to select None for Frames/Borders - it was showing 'box' (odd that
with a picture inside the Frame showed None!).
Then I re-inserted my picture.

When you insert a picture in a frame, it is impossible to actually select
the frame instead of the picture unless you right-arrow out of the picture
and add a space. When you actually have the frame selected, you'll know it
because Format Frame will appear on the right-click menu. You can then use
Format | Borders and Shading to remove the border from the frame. When you
have a picture selected, you get the Format Picture dialog instead, where
you remove the "line" on the Colors and Lines tab.
