In Outlook, open Word e-mail attachments in Normal view.

In Microsoft Outlook, everytime I open a Microsoft Word e-mail attachment, it
defaults to the Reading View. I prefer Normal view. Is there a way that I
can change this default?

From Word's F1 Help Topic:

a.. Prevent reading layout view from opening automatically when you receive
a Word document in e-mail: On the Tools menu, click Options, click the
General tab, and then clear the Allow starting in Reading Layout check box.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, khs asked:

Every time I open a MS Word Email attachment, it defaults to "Mark Up" view.
Text is enlarged so much that a few words fill an entire page. I have to
change the view to "Normal" to be able to read the attachment. I use MS
Outlook and Word 2003. I check the response to your post and 2003 does not
have an option to: clear the 'allow starting in reading layout'.

This problem is a CONSTANT irritant. Here is what I have found: I don't want
to use Word as my Outlook EMail editor, so had deselected that option. I
also deselected "allow start in reading layout" in Word General options. And
documents in email STILL open in reading layout. Now if i switch and SELECT
Word as my editor in Outlook mail, lo and behold, the regular, non-reading or
"normal human being" layout appears. If anyone knows how to eliminate the
totally unwanted Reading Layout view entirely from every part of my system -
since it makes reading almost any document impossible - while still NOT using
Word as Outlook mail editor, I would be extremely grateful. Wish i thought
our good buddies at MS were listening to this ...

While this works to prevent reading layout as the default, how do you
configure Word to open in print view? In addition, how do you change the size
from 150% to another value?
Several users in my group have similar problems (they open an email, click
on the attachment, word opens and the view is something that must be changed
each time for every user. Where do users configure the view they prefer? No
two seems to open identically [all are different]. Random? I don't believe
so; something these users did set the view and now they are stuck with it.)
Help!
