In Project Server 2003 - "Open from Microsoft Office Project Server"Window Question

CyberB

After connecting to the Project Server 2003 Database through the
Project Professional Client I go to the "File" menu and select
"Open". In the "Open from Microsoft Office Project Server" window
that appears there is a drop down field at the top labeled "Group
By".

Does anyone know how this drop down field functions?

When I do the drop down function there are no entries to choose from.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...I can't find the answer for
this in any of my books, Google, or on Microsoft's web-site.

Thanks.

Hi Brian,

The group by drop down list is anticipated to group by "enterprise outline
codes". Since you have nothing in the drop down list, I would assume that you
have no enterprise outline codes defined. Enterprise Outline Codes allow you
to create consolidated reporting ( e.g. Departments, State, Project class).
You can filter or group by outline codes. If you use the Portfolio Analyser,
outline codes will give you a great way to analyse all of your projects.

I would recommend that you may purchase a project server book which explains
what and how you can set up Project Server ( including outline codes). I
would check out the Project Server books from the Projectserverexperts. They
have a very good book explaining Project Server settings.

I hope this helps.
