inbox deletions

When a message is read from the inbox and then closed, it
disappears. Does not go to the deleted file and I don't
see any rules set up. How can I stop emails from
disappearing when read. This is happening in Outlook XP
and/or 2003

Change your View from "Unread Messages" to "Messages".
