Inbox doesn't update until I go to another folder

I have Office XP SP3 on a Windows XP box. It is connected to an exchange
server. When I receive new messages, they go into my inbox but it doesn't
show them until I hop over to a different folder and then back. Any
suggestions. It isn't a matter of them taking time to show or them not
coming in, it is just a matter of my folder won't update unless I leave it.
