Hello, hopefully someone can help me with this.

In trying to archive old messages an error message kept popping up saying that the database needs to be verified/repaired as it may be damaged.

I opened the utility by holding down the option key when starting entourage and ran the verification of the email identity. It came back saying this had been run successfully and the database was fine.

However, when I returned to entourage there are now no messages at all displaying in the inbox. The sent items and deleted items are all still there, just nothing in the inbox!

Have these been moved/archived somewhere? Or is this a disaster and are they lost.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

Rebuilds are not 100%. This is why I always suggest you make a backup prior
to running the utility. It's possible you can revert to the previous
database. Look in the folder and see if there is an old database or if a new
folder that has [Backed up xxxxxx]. Check the size of the database in the
[Backed up xxxxx] folder. It's possible this file wasn't even made. In that
case your only option is to try using the old database.

Use switch Identity under Entourage in the Menu bar to view the [Backed up
xxxxxx] Identity. This assumes there was a database. If this opens you can
manually salvage your data and create a new Identity.

If the [Backed up xxxxxx] doesn't work, then create a new folder and name it
"My Old Main Identity". Drag over the old database file to this folder.
Remove "old" so it's just named Database. Use Switch Identity to open this
file. Try recovery.

How to manually move your data. (when import fails and/or you need to move
to a new Identity same version or revert to an older version)

Otherwise if you don't have a recent backup, you've lost your data. Take
this opportunity as a learning lesson to create a good backup strategy.
