Inbox selected email jumps to bottom

Using Office 2007, Outlook for mail and sort by "newest on top". When I
select other emails to view in the readingin pane, the selected email seems
to always jump to the last email in my inbox.

Anybody know a fix?

Try resetting the folder view.
