Including headers and footers in a report from a linked word docum

I have linked a report to a word document that contains headers and footers,
but the headers and footers do not appear in the report. Is it possible to do
this. I have created another document where the headers and footers are part
of the letter and this works. Surely you can include headers and footers in a
report ?
