Incoming Mail or lack thereof

I am trying to set up a new account. I think I have
successfully set up the e-mail as I can send out messages
but I cannot receive any. A "Logon" box keeps on popping
up asking me to type in a user anme along with the
password. How do I set up that username and password? It
relates to the incoming mail server but I do not know and
can't find where to set it up.

Any help would be appreciated.

are you using an Exchange server or POP server?
