incoming message format

When I create an email mesage using color, lines, etc., and send it to
myself, all the formatting is lost. When I sent it to others using Outlook,
they receive in the formatted form. Why can't I? I've looked in
Tools/Options/Mail Format to be sure it's on HTML -- and it is -- but that
only refers to outgoing. Is there a setting for incoming?

If you are running one of the latest and greatest versions of Outlook, check
under Tools | Options | Prefs. tab | Email Options button and see if the 4th
or 5th box is checked. (It will be something like, read all mail as plain
text)

No, it isn't checked. This is a real puzzle. I have a
couple of people in my company also now stumped. They are
receiving my formatted message just fine but I still
can't. Any other thoughts?

What kind of mail account are you working with? I ask because I can see
this happening if you are using IMAP or POP3 against an Exchange server and
the others are connecting to Exchange via the Exchange transport.
