inconsistent actual hours

T

Theo

Environment: EPM SP2, Project 2007 SP1
For a long time we have problems in the processing of hours.
For excample:
In the timesheet a user enters a total amount of 40 hours. After the
taskupdate they are not seen in the MSP_POortfolio Anlyzer. However
when opening the project in MS-Project the 40 hours are de processed
as acutal hours.
Because I do a lot of reporting via de cubus I never have the right
actuals calculated.

The total difference for 2009 is about 10%.

Has one of you an idea what the problem could be and how to solve this.

Theo, Analysis Services need to rebuild the cubes. It is not a transactional
real time database, but a process database. I would recommend to rebuild the
cubes, that should resolve your issue
hope this helps

We have issues with project managers not publishing their plans after
accepting updates. If they do not publish after updates, the hours will not
move into the reporting database, and will not be included in the cube build.

If the simple fixes don't work, here are some other things I've done to
solve similar problems:

Upgrade Project Server to the latest update, rather than SP1.
Upgrade SQL Server to the latest service pack.
Ensure that client machines are all updated to the same SP level as the
server.
Check project plans for consistency....be sure resources and dates are
appropriate
If you have plans that were upgraded from Project Server 2003, they can
cause problems
Make sure projects aren't checked out during the cube build.

Please let us know what happens, the issue of bad data in Data Analysis is
crucial to organizations like mine.
