Inconsistent prompting for Windows logon

We have both project server and windows sharpoint services running on
the same box. We are using project server authentication with regards
to project server and windows authentication with regards to WSS.

When I select a project and view documents tied to the project,
everything works great. It hooks right into the space in WSS. When I
select a task and view documents tied to a task, again, it works great.

HOWEVER, when I select a project and track project issues or track
project risks, it prompts me for a windows logon. What's the deal?

Andy:

SharePoint uses Windows Authentication only. When you use Project Server
authentication, none of your users are added to the SharePoint sites and,
therefore, should not be able to access any risks, issues or documents
unless the Windows account that they login with has been manually added to
each site or they have administrator permissions on the server. Does that
explain why you can access things when you theoretically shouldn't be able
to? You are an administrator on the box, yes?

Gary, whether I'm logged on as Administrator or not, I can successfully
access DOCUMENTS, but am prompted for a windows logon when it comes to
risks and issues..

Our Tech Services people (the folks actually managing the boxes -- I'm
dealing with this more on the application side) hard-coded somewhere in
the mix a WSS authorized userid that apparently becomes invoked
whenever you make that jump from within project server PWA to the
sharepoint stuff, regardless of who you are logged in as with respect
to project server authentication.

Is that not supposed to work?

I get the impression that the common configuration is to use windows
authentication in project server. Is that true? We DO have active
directory here.

Thanks,
Andy

We use Novell, not windows for logging on to our network from the
desktop. Does that change things on the project server side? Does
the PWA login screen accept a domain/windows id for logon?
