incorporate music in powerpoint without delay at each transition

Powerpoint 2003 - high graphic production. incorporting a complete music
stream in a 18 page presentation .. I've found when running the presentation
that the music is interrupted slightly when the slide transitions. Can this
be avoided in anyway.

What type of sound file did you use, and how did you insert it?
