incorporating sub schedules

I have a subcontractor provides weekly schedule status. Right now they send
us a new mpp file each week that we drop into our folder with the rest of the
mpp files. We are moving to server. Firewall restrictions won't allow the
sub to work on the project server. What is the best way to get weekly
schedule status from them. Do I incorporate thier file into server once,
then check it out and hand them an mpp back that is "rechecked in" each week.
Do I leave thier file as an MPP file on a hard drive and have server link to
it. (it actually works, just a bit slow).

Any advice on efficiently incorporating external schedules would be
appreciated.

You could investigate a process around "save for sharing" in the file menu.
It would allow you to email the file to the subcontractor, they can amend and
send back to you, and then you check it back in.

As usual the MS feature is almost perfect except for one major flaw. You can
do a save for sharing which locks the file, however, if the file is part of a
master project when you open the master project it un-shares the file and any
changes you made on the "offline" copy can't be brought back in.

I was hoping I could open the master file and make changes to other areas
and "Save all" and have the tool ignore changes to the shared file, but
that's not the case.

Thanks
