Incorrect Function when saving a document to a CD

I have a CD/dvd R/RW drive in my XP computer and runnign MSWord 2002 when I goto save a document and try to select the drive D: I get an Error "Incorrect Funtion" then a message stating I don't have access permissions to D:, I also have Word Perfect on the system and that works fine, so I We do have permissions to the drive , also going threw my computer we can past Word documents to a CD. Need to know if This is a Word Problem

You shouldn't save any document to removable media. Word would crash because
it creates a complex temp file in the active folder which it needs to update
and overwrite. This it cannot do on a CD.
