incorrect user name/password combination. (5002)

Shaun Dallman

Hi,

After adding users that authenticate using Win NT I get
the following error message when I try to log in:

You have entered an incorrect user name/password
combination. (5002)

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Thankyou,

Shaun.

Shaun:

If you've setup correctly, Windows authentication is automatic. You should
never see a logon screen for Project Server. Make sure that you're not
typing anything past the \\servername\projectserver in your URL. Of course
you're running in a domain environment.

I am getting the exact same error and I am running in a
domain. I do have multiple web sites running on this
machine with their own individual IP's. When I type
http://10.10.10.20/projectserver I get redirected to a
the login screen and not even the domain admin can log
in.

Any furthere suggestions?

I am having the same problem. Everyone is part of the same domain as the
server. I get prompted, for username and password. If I enter a domain
account i.e. mydom\username then password I get the 5002 error. Has anyone
come up with a solution?

thx, L

Gary, I can logon with administrator and setup users etc. However, I cannot
logon with one of the accounts that I create. I have authentication set for
windows authentication and local (forget the term used). Anyway, for some
reason it does not recognize my domain userid...

This sounds like it may be an issue with directory security in Project
Server. How are you attempting to logon? What is the exact URL you're
typing?

It seems we have found the cause. We removed that anonymous logon from the
'projectserver' web site. After that everything flowed thru as normal. Not
sure I understand why that fixed though...

Allowing anonymous access on that directory allows the user to connect to
the point where credentials can be offered.
