increasing default resolution

I have been having problems with a large bitmap object
imported to Powerpoint from Photoshop. The object should
be a topographic map of California approximately nine
inches by nineteen inches. The resolution in Powerpoint
is terrible and the image looks blurry even though I
increased the dpi to 600 and resized the picture. Does
Powerpoint have a default maximum allowed resolution? Can
I change this and print out the poster with this image at
600 dpi?

That explains what you see on screen. The image as printed shouldn't be
affected by PPT's antialiasing (explained in the link above), though.
