Right. The .rge archives are v1.0. They need to be improved to recreate allWell, we certainly have this handled.
Good.
The only thing I still think needs stressing is that if they are going to give
us a truly ³modern² program with all these complexities, they should give us a
way to manage the database. Even your script, as good as it doubtless is, does
not do everything I would want: send everything to an archive that will sit
there until needed, and when accessed will give us everything we had before:
all links, contacts, attachments, everything.
flags and - if possible - in links. (Don't forget that if you archived some
types of items to a different archive and then deleted originals, they will
no longer be available to be linked to. The best you could hope for would be
links to other items in the same archive and any pre-existing originals
still intact.)
But they DO have a way! I explained that already several times. Make anAdditionally, they should give us a way to detach attachments to a separate

appropriate rue or rules for just the "range of messages" you want, and set
the rule to Save Attachments and Delete Attachments. Some day they could add
the Link function my script will do, but since a script can do it there's no
loss. I guess it would be good if they added a feature to Reveal Link (in
the case of Files) in addition to Open Link.
The technique I use with Retrospect is to add another Retrospect every 2I have tons of disk space left. The only issue is that the Retrospect archives
increase by leaps and bounds because of the ever-changing large database file.
Now that I know there is no good cure, though, I¹ll just live with that. I
definitely am going to continue backing up every day, and Entourage isn¹t
going to change, so there we are.
weeks that backs up the regular backup file to a reserve file and then does
a Recycle backup instead of a Normal backup to the regular backup file. It's
all automatic. That means I always have at least 2 weeks and up to 4 weeks
of daily backups at any time, and sets the regular backup file back to a
manageable size every two weeks. It works well.
I agree that it¹s worth sticking with Entourage and will do that. I just think
they need to do better by us.
