incremental counter using VBA

i need to generate a sequential number so that when i type 15 into on
spread sheet, it keeps a record of the number on the next and the
automatically issues me the next number, for example the number 1
would pop up next. i was told i need to use VBA to do this but i have
very basic knowledge of microsoft excel and have no clue how to use it
so please be very detailed and as simple as possible in your answer

how are you using this?
where you do want to enter the number 15
where do you want to see the number 16 -
under what circumstances should the number 16 be generated?
when the number 16 is generated do you still want to see the number 15?
how do you want the number 17 generated?

Hi Julie,

For my company we issue Purchase orders, and what i am trying to do i
on one spread sheet have a list of all the purchase order numbers tha
have been used, and on the other sheet it would automatically come u
with the next number in sequence so that there are no two of the sam
purchase order numbers. once i finish typing out the purchase order an
then save it, i want it then to link back to the first sheets' lis
showing it has been created, and then a new sheet pop up with the nex
purhcase order number. i hope this all makes sence. please dont forge
i really have a basic knowledge of excel so i need the most detaile
explanation as possible. Thanks for all your help!!!
