Incremental numbers on each printed copy

OK guys & ladies I need some input....



I am attempting to print a form and need each duplicate numbered. Somewhat like how checks are printed where each page has a number on it that increases by one digit. I know I could have word just insert a page number on each page. Unfortunately, I am looking at over a 1000 copies which would mean a really large document file for what I think should be a one page form. Can it be done through some sneaky seting in word
