index.html page not working correctly.

I am using Frontpage 2000. I have to manually rename the
index.htm page to index.html. At that point my web
works, however what DOES NOT work are the navigation
buttons back to the home page from any of my child
pages. It continously gives me the error that the
homepage cannot be found, shows me a link to my web page
and when I click on the link it takes me back to my
homepage. How can I fix this?

When you changed the file did you click the yes, update all files linked to
that page so there were no broken links? If not, rename the file back to
..htm and click yes to update. and then change it again to .html. Is there a
particular reason to why you are changing the extension?

Also, you could open to the Navigation View, and drag the new file to the
location you want and if the other is there, then delete it from the Nav
menu.

Are you renaming the file in FP?

Have checked with your host to see what the first default document name is
that is listed on their server?

When using the FP navigation component, FP does not use a page name for the
default document (home), just link to the root of the web.
