Infopath should allow for a link to file instead of just attachin.

It would be great to have Infopath allow developers to make fields that can
either attach files or allow for a link to file capability.

Sharepoint has the capability of linking files, perhaps you can
integrate your InfoPath form in Sharepoint, and then use Sharepoint to
allow attachments.

There is also the capability to add custom controls, perhaps you can
find one that allows this.
