I would like to use Information Rights Management to be able to resrict the
usage of certain documents. Eg, I would like my files to have an expiry date,
I have the standard version of Microsoft Office 2003, which does not come, by
defult with it. Is there any webstie that I would be able to download it from?

Thank-you for your time,

Daniel

Hi, Daniel.
I would like to use Information Rights Management
I have the standard version of Microsoft Office 2003, which does not come,
by
defult with it.

IRM is already available in your copy of Microsoft Office 2003, because it
is fully integrated into Office 2003 applications, but it requires several
components, including the Windows Rights Management Services on a Windows
2003 server and a Windows network to connect to it. One may read all about
this on the following Web page:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/office/office2003/operate/of03irm.mspx

IRM Components

The RMS technology at the core of IRM is built on the .NET Framework,
ASP.NET and the Extensible Rights Markup Language (XrML), an emerging rights
expression language standard based on XML. XrML offers a common,
simple-to-use means for expressing and managing rights and policies for
digital content and services.

The following are required to enable IRM:

.. Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) running on Windows Server 2003

.. Rights Management Update for Windows client

.. Office 2003 (or a third party application that is RM-capable)

HTH.

RMS (Rights Management Services) as deployed in Office 2003, protect HTML
content, Word, Excel, and Outlook email only. RMS does not protects any
Access data or documents. It is possible to output a report as either Excel
or Word and protect that content.
