Initial Powerpoint 2007 screen

David

I have powerpoint 2007 running under XP/SP2.

When powerpoint starts, it displays the initial slide. The initial
slide contains options for a Title & for a Sub-Title. My preference
is to start with a completely blank slide. Is this possible?

Also, when powerpoint starts, I get a 'window' containing just the new
slide. On the left of the working area, there is a narrow 'window'
containing tabs fir slide and outline with an "X" to close this mini
window. I would prefer that this mini-window be closed by default. Is
there a way to do this?

Hi David,

To set the view you want, in this case 'Normal - Slide only'
you can use Office Button=>Powerpoint Options=>Advanced
and scroll to the 'Display' area and change the
'Open all documents using this view"
setting.

To set the default view, switch to the layout you want then use
Office Button=>Save As=>Other Formats
and save the file as
Blank.potx
(template)
close and restart Powerpoint. You can also set the view to your liking before saving and then use the
"Open all documents using this view" choice set to 'View saved in file'
