"initializing folders"

Since no-one has replied to this thread since Apr 30 Can I assume there is a
fix for this issue or has everyone given up on Microsoft fixing it? Sorry
Bob. I'm with everyone else. I don't feel I should have to check and fix
drive mappings each time.
If the destination cannot be found in the Office Common Dialog box it should
skip to the next connection within seconds, not wait ad-infinitum for a
result. This is simply bad programming and could be resolved very easily.

I'm very new to Word & I have recently become very frustrated with this error
each time I try to open a document. Is there a fix for this? I'm pretty
illiterate when it comes to computers so just the fact that I "tripped" over
this subject was a miracle itself. I just hope that I can find my way back
here for a response. Thanks for any help you can pass on!

Hi DKR,

This can be a Windows generated message if it's trying to connect toa Mapped/network drive that has either been disconnected or idle
for awhile.

Try disconnecting unused network mapped drives and see if you get the same problem.
